This book was written to assist anyone and everyone who desires to teach children with autism. Even though its content and intended audience are fairly specific, this bookwould not have come about if it were not reflective in some way of the broader contexts of philosophy, social science, linguistics, and psychology. I salute the many great masters whose discoveries, theories, observations, and wisdom have shaped our ideas about how children learn, think, and communicate.
Autism can be perplexing and frustrating, because it is relentless. Children who have autism may seem to be moving targets because although the condition is pervasive, it changes developmentally. It is still difficult to determine (with precision) if these children change because of their autism or because of our intervention.
